Favourite Throws, Beds & Blankets Our Whippets Actually Approve Of

If you live with a whippet (or two), you’ll know one thing for certain; comfort is non-negotiable. These dogs are professional loungers, blanket burrowers, and connoisseurs of softness. Not just any throw will do, it must be warm, luxurious, and preferably arranged into a perfectly shaped nest.

Over the years, and many purchases later, we’ve curated a small collection of throws, beds and blankets that have earned the seal of approval from Moss and Mylo, and trust us, they don’t hand that out lightly. Whether you’re trying to keep your home looking beautiful and whippet-friendly, or just want to stop losing every blanket in the house to your dog, here are a few of our favourites.

The Favoured Beds (Yes, Plural)

We have dog beds in nearly every room, and I say nearly only because the bathrooms haven’t been claimed yet. This wasn’t exactly by design, but if you live with whippets, you’ll know; options are essential. Some beds are big, some are plush, but a select few have earned “most favoured” status.

Top of the list? The Charley Chau Snuggle Bed. Technically, neither Moss nor Mylo actually fit in it properly anymore — I keep meaning to size up but that hasn’t stopped them from fighting over it. If we try to hide it away, they’ll sit by its usual spot and sulk. As Charley Chau themselves put it, “not all beds are made equal” and clearly, the boys agree.

They’re also big fans of their Sleepy Burrows Bed from Lords & Labradors, which lives in our bedroom and gets high marks for cosiness and stretchability.

And finally, we have to mention the Fantail Bucket Snug bed. It’s incredibly comfy, beautifully made and honestly, large enough that it might just accommodate a third whippet one day (don’t tell Gabriel).

The Throws That Disappear in Seconds

We keep numerous throws in every room. They love the thick and soft blankets and one of their favourites is a teddy fleece throw from John Lewis, sadly they have discontinued these now but luckily we have three.

Another firm favourite is the faux fur dog blankets from Charley Chau, we have one of each in each of their beds, which are not snuggle beds.

The ‘Nice’ Blanket We Pretend Isn’t for the Dogs

You know the one, that luxuriously soft, maybe slightly too expensive blanket you swore would be for “guests only.” Ours is the Liena Throw from OKA, beautiful, utterly impractical for dogs, and claimed by Moss within the first hour. It now lives permanently on a chair in the sitting room, an unofficial part of the whippet tax.

Surprisingly, it’s held up beautifully and somehow manages to make every nap look like a spread straight out of House & Garden.

Our Travel Bed Setup

Whether we’re away for a weekend or just out for lunch somewhere dog-friendly, we always bring along a few comforts from home, because whippets, as we know, do not rough it.

We travel with a favourite fleecy throw and a fold out travel bed, so the boys feel settled wherever we go. The travel beds we use are MiaCara’s Strada travelBed and Occam Store’s Sploot— compact, easy to carry, and ideal for pub lunches, train trips, or impromptu naps during long walks. It gives them a familiar scent and a soft spot to land, which makes a huge difference, and stops them from trying to claim a cushion that isn’t technically theirs.

When we go away, we always take one of their proper beds and a selection of blankets, partly for comfort, mostly for furniture protection; because let’s be honest, they won’t stay off it. We’ve also made a habit of buying a cheap duvet on the way, along with a fitted sheet, to throw over the bed so if (when) they sneak in during the night, we don’t have to worry. It’s become part of our travel ritual, and honestly, it makes everything easier for everyone.

We’ve come to realise that living with whippets means building your home around softness, warmth, and places to lounge and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
